A
TRULY EXTRAORDINARY SPEAKER
Kimina Lyall kept those
attending the MCEI Connect Event in April spellbound, as she told
us her story when on Boxing Day 2004, a rupture in the earth's
crust 696 kilometers from her peaceful paradise triggered a tsunami
that swept across the Indian Ocean. Kimina’s talk did not dwell on
the tragedy but rather on the events leading up to this frightening
occurrence and how she and others with her were saved from
destruction. One thing that stood out in her story was the
disbelief by the locals in just what was happening….they tended to
look in awe rather than take action to escape.
Kimina’s
training as a journalist (she was based in Bangkok as The
Australian's Southeast Asia correspondent) ensured that she
kept taking pictures - and these she shared with us. Kimina tells
her story in the book she has written called ‘Out of the
Blue’. Attendees were keen to get a copy so that they could
read her entire, incredible story. If you want a copy please let me
know enquiries@mcei.org.au

FAREWELL
Megan Willis from
Manningham Council has left to go overseas. MCEI certainly wishes
her well. Megan and the Council have been instrumental in assuring
MCEI becomes a major networking association specialising in the
area of marketing. It was delightful to receive this comment from
Megan:-
“I am writing to commend Marketing Communications Executives
International - Melbourne on the past year of Connect Events.
Manningham has been proud to support the Connect Events which have
provided valuable networking and learning opportunities to our
local businesses.
I have found that the Connect Events truly do contain the 'WOW
Factor' and I commend (Barbara) and the network on their
consistently high standard of speakers, excellent organisation and
fantastic entertainment.
I look forward to working with MCEI in the future and would
recommend MCEI Connect Events to any local area or region looking
to provide quality networking opportunities and marketing seminars
to local businesses.” |
