New Venue; New Visitors; New Council Support; New Speaker

SPEAKER
MCEI held its June Connect Event at the Monash Business Incubator with the support of the Monash Council. Sharon Pearson, CEO and Head Trainer at ‘The Coaching Institute’, which won the 2006 Telstra Micro Business Award and the Port Phillip Innovative Business Award, was the guest speaker. Sharon is also the resident Life Coach on Channel 10's ‘9am with David & Kim’. Her topic “Marketing - the Difference that makes the Difference" demonstrated how it was possible to create an entire business that is dedicated to your customers. She shared her techniques of how she took $10,000 in seed capital and turned it into a $20 million dollar business in just 3 years.

VENUE
The Monash Business Incubator made their meeting room available to MCEI and such a great crowd attended that it was standing room only for late comers! MCEI will be working with Councils throughout Victoria to bring some of its special events to a greater number and variety of business operators.

AWARDS ANNOUNCED
The Inaugural MCEI Marketing Awards will be held in October of 2007. The overall winner will also have their entry judged by an International Panel of Judges for the MCEI International Awards. The Launch of the Awards will take place at the next Connect Event, on August 27^th at the Clarion Ballroom in Forest Hill. Sarah Ross of Studio Ingot and winner of the Telstra Awards will be the guest speaker.

MCEI is currently sourcing sponsors and ways to let the business community know of these awards and asked those present to ‘put their thinking caps on’ in an effort to support their endeavours.

SURPRISES OF THE EVENING
New member Ron Chowanetz was the winner of the digital camera “I have never won anything before” exclaimed Ron! Members provided over a dozen door prizes – making for a lot of happy people!

Barbara Gabogrecan was presented with a birthday cake by Kelvin Eldridge - a great surprise and a wonderful gesture - thanks Kelvin!
