OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF
AWARDS
 The
August Connect Event was a very special one. Christine Fyffe,
member for Evelyn, officially Launched the MCEI Marketing Awards
which were held in the luxurious Clarion on Canterbury.
Christine
demonstrated that she really did understand small business, as she
had run her own winery and restaurant. Not only that – but she won
awards for her wine and pointed out the value of gaining
recognition and credibility through awards. In her political role,
Christine has always been supportive of small business and works
tirelessly in her electorate to ensure business operators are
recognised for their endeavours.
SILENT
AUCTION
 Attendees also took part
in a Silent Auction and many went home with some very valuable
product, which they obtained at very good prices! MCEI was
delighted to be able to announce that it made $2000 at the Auction,
a great  contribution towards the
cost of running the Awards

GUEST SPEAKER
 Another awards
winner, Sarah Ross, was the guest speaker. Sarah of Studio Ingot
won the Victorian Micro Category of the Telstra Awards in 2002. She
shared with those present how she intended entering the awards IN
2001 but just how daunting she found the whole process to be,
so she did not enter. However she kept the entry form beside her
bed and each night had a look and decided to build her business
around the questions being asked. By the time they came around
again, she was ready! But was utterly surprised when she won! Sarah
was a great example of how determination and a good business can
put you at the ‘top of the pack’.
