building her network; education; developing a commitment to the
community and taking advantage of free media coverage.

Symply Too Good from Queensland
Annette has developed a truly unique business from her own
personal demons. Realizing that she had to lose weight and remain
fit and healthy, she lost 35kilo and then decided to develop recipe
books to show others how they could do it too. She has sold over 2
million books; developed CD’s and DVD’s; does cooking demos at
newsagents (where they sell her book); appears on TV Lifestyle
shows; and tours the country speaking to enthusiastic groups – this
is a great example of ‘I am my Business’!

Linda Vining of the Education Expo From New
South Wales
Linda has developed an Expo for the Education industry. Her
strategy included expanding networks; expanding the scope and size
of the expo; & to make the expo a hub of learning
activity. Linda recognised that customer service has to be
different for the exhibitor; the sponsors and the attendees and she
meets their expectations. She has a competitive advantage due to
her personal credibility in the area of education and is developing
new markets in Hong long, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines.
WOMEN IN BUSINESS WINNER
Beverley Ryan -
Honestly Woman from Queensland
Bev had a new magazine to promote, called ‘Honestly Women’ and she
developed an entirely unique and innovative marketing strategy. She
got together a number of women and a boat and entered in the
Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. She gained sponsors and raised
money for Redkite – a charity to assist families of children with
cancer…Honestly Women promoted the entire project. Both the race
and the magazine were featured in a number of different media
outlets….and to cap it off……they were winners of the Cruising
Division and the yacht also clocked the fastest sailing speed ever
with the women at the helm!

Sasy n Savy accepted by Mary Dabadie
Samea has made entering (and winning) awards a major marketing
tool. She has developed 10 export markets; she mentors other women
through Government programmes; she undertakes extensive market
research; there is an aggressive search engine optimisation
programme; visiting overseas clients (or potential clients) are
taken on day tours of Sydney to allow time to build relationships;
Samea has exhibited at Expos in Dubai, HK, UK and Japan each year
and she uses the media extensively…this is a business to watch out
for!
