Q. Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your
lifestyle, your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A. I am a great believer in fortune favouring the brave!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. My objective is to build my
business to the point where more than half of its income is passive
and have a business that can run with only a small input from
myself. This would give me to more time to spend doing what I
enjoy, which is reading and travelling.
BUSINESS DETAILS
Q. What is it that your business does?
A. I provide advice to small business owners who are seeking
to grow their businesses, increase their profitability and make
their business run without them. I focus on business planning
and systems and marketing strategy. I work directly with
businesses with turnover in excess of $1m and provide an online,
low cost service for micro-business owners.
Q. How many do you employ?
A. I am the CEO of Empower Business Solutions which
employs part-time support from a number of
specialists.
Q. How long have you been in business?
A. The business started in February 2004. Prior to
that I was running businesses for others.
Q. What makes your business unique?
A. The Australian Business Coaching Club is the only
online Business Coaching Service in Australia providing direct
support by an acknowledged business expert to online multi-media
curriculum. With the use of technology, the cost of the
coaching has been slashed so that even the smallest businesses can
access premium advice.
MARKETING
Q. What is the most important Marketing/Networking
tool/strategy your business has had success with?
A. Web marketing is the single most important strategy
for my business. I am on the front page of google for all my
major keywords, and use an integrated approach to online/offline
marketing. Over half my business comes through the internet.
AWARDS
Q. Has your business been nominated for, was a finalist
in, or won any awards or other commendations?
A. I was a finalist for the Ron Carr Rotary Club Award in
2007. I participated in the Telstra Business Awards and the MCEI
Awards as a judge.
ADVICE
Q. What is the most helpful piece of advice you could give
to other businesses?
A. Don’t spend $ time on penny jobs.

Q. What is it you are looking for as a member of
MCEI?
A. I would like to seek the opportunity to form
alliances with like minded businesses, working out how we can help
each other.
Q. What is it you can offer to MCEI
members?
A. As the owner of The Australian Small Business Blog,
and of a mailing list of a significant size, there are many cross
promotional opportunities I could offer.
Q. How do you envisage demonstrating your support and
loyalty to the association of MCEI?
A. By volunteering for particular activities such a
Forum Guest Expert, awards judge.

1) My first book, “The Five Pillars of Guaranteed
Business Success” was released in October 2007
2) “Small Business Achiever” newsletter commenced February
2008, providing information for owners seeking to turn their job
back into a business. It is an unfair business advantage and a
shortcut to success.
