Q.  Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your lifestyle, your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.  I love all aspects of performing arts particularly theatre and film. I love living in the CBD as it is always busy, colourful and only a 3 min walk to the office! I am very excitable, often hyperactive and love to make up silly songs (even though I can’t hold a tune).

A.  Music Theatre Australia is a leading Australian entertainment and event production company providing One Stop Entertainment, team building workshops and activities, theming and unique events nationally and internationally. MTA manages many of Australia's most talented artists and groups including a huge range of musicians, bands, circus and roving artists, comedians, big name feature acts, celebrities and other performers.  MTA frequently creates customised performances for conferences, dinners, awards nights, launches, incentives, public venues, dinner seasons, festivals and concert halls and a huge range of special events. MTA has created and presented performances for a variety of venues, festivals and special events and conferences throughout Australia, Asia, the South Pacific, USA and Europe.

MTA’s passion for innovative, fresh and creative entertainment ensures they deliver a special experience that’s perfect for you in an easy, stress-free way. The company’s aim is not merely to provide entertainment, but an entire entertainment solution. Performances are customised and integrated with the subject and objectives of the event.  Be it motivating employees, celebrating achievements, impressing clients or paying a special tribute to a VIP, MTA works with the client to achieve a unique event of superior quality. 

Q.  Do you work from home?   How many do you employ?
A.  Our office is located in Southbank. We have 8 full time staff  and 4 part-time staff

Q.  How long have you been in business? 
A.  MTA has been operating for 10 years which grew out of the success of a performance group called Pot-Pourri which formed in 1987

A.  Music Theatre Australia is unique because:
1.      We take the stress out of organising entertainment and events.
2.      We have a huge range of  fantastic performers all over Australia - we are a national entertainment company.
3.      Our service is excellent – creative, knowledgeable, personal and reliable.   Our team all come from performance and production backgrounds and are passionate about entertainment and events.
4.      Music Theatre Australia performers have undergone stringent selection procedures.  They are chosen for customer service ability as well as their entertaining talents.
5.      We supply customised entertainment proposals to suit your briefs, usually within 24 hours. We also can supply demo CD's, video recordings and CD-ROMs where available.
6.      We can find or create just about anything! We are experts at weird and wacky!!!
7.      If you unsure about what you are after, please just call us.  We can help you to come up with lots of unique ideas to suit your guests, venues and budgets.
8.      We will guide you through our easy booking process and suggest ways in which performers are best utilised for the big event.
9.      Once your event has been booked with Music Theatre Australia, consultants are available before, after and during the event - in person or by phone.

Q.  Has your business been nominated for, was a finalist in, or won any awards or other commendations?
A.  Tania de Jong Director of MTA received in 2006 the Ernst and Young Australian Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award for her work with The Song Room. The Song Room, a charity founded by Tania, has brought music and performing arts programs to over 100,000 disadvantaged children and communities throughout Australia. Tania’s other awards include the "Outstanding Individual Contribution to Australian Culture" (1998) and the Accessibility Award in The Melbourne Awards(2005). She was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards (2001) and studied overseas on a Churchill Fellowship in (1996). She has recently been inducted into the AGSE Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame.

Q.  What is the most helpful piece of advice you could give to other businesses?
A.  Spend time and effort maintaining and updating your database or CRM system. The business potential of this data if tapped into correctly is extraordinary!
