Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your
lifestyle,

ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.
Hans came to Australia in 1982 where he enjoyed his 5-star
Hotel Management career including hospitality consultant
specialising in recruitment and training. Hans’ career change
in 2002 followed his passion for dogs, running in-home DogTraining,
specialising in problem dogs, and training people as dog
trainers. Has 3 Labradors, enjoys working with people,
straightshooter with high ethics, loves old cars / classical
music.
After a
vibrant hospitality career, including operating the Australian
School of Bartending for over 7 years, Susan, a Civil Celebrant,
runs the driving school. Certified trainer and assessor and
Vic Roads accredited the driver training uses positive
encouragement training methods. A passionate people person,
Susan thrives on people contact. She is likeable, empathetic
and professional. Loves games,family/friends, reading, creative,
personable and does best as a team player.

Our core business is training – of people and their dogs,
or teaching people to drive. Our businesses are synergetic and
revolve around dogs and related things – or training.

A.
Small personalised, niche businesses, where we make a
genuine effort to make the client special.

is the most important Marketing/Networking tool/strategy your
business has had success with?
A.
Our websites have been crucial in getting our businesses
going –all offering ease of use and plenty of info. Replies to
enquiries are responded to several times a day.

your business been nominated for, was a finalist in, or won any
awards or other commendations?
A.
Hans was elected Hospitality Person of the year 2003 by
his peer group of the Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association of
Vic (HMAAV), Tourism Victoria and VECCI. This was for his
work in the industry and the HMAAV.

is the most helpful piece of advice you could give to other
businesses?
A.
Be focused, and determined, and go for it – there are
opportunities, but you must work for them

* Started
variety of new business entities in 2007 – after we sold our
previous franchise & training businesses.
* Developed & launched a new nationally accredited dog trainers
course, and are developing an e-learning version of this course,
which has attracted major interest from other states and
