Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your
lifestyle, your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.
I call myself a true Australian as I have lived in every
capital city and many remote and isolated regions of this great
country. I have two adult sons and now find myself being the
workaholic again in my endeavour to make my creation a household
name. My philosophy in life is to do what makes my heart sing
and invite people into the chorus. I inspire trust from
people around me by treating them sincerely and fairly without
prejudice.

What is it that your business does?
A. Pocket Book Publishing is a unique publishing
house. We invite short story writers to take membership to our
virtual site and submit their manuscripts for consideration. We
publish the stories into a card copy pocket book free of charge to
the members and sell the pocket books via the internet. We pay
royalties of 40% to the writers for their work.
Q. Do
you work from home?
A.
We are a Home Based Business operated by the proprietor and
contract proofreading and editing out to other home based business’
who are associated network members.
Q. How
long have you been in business?
A.
We have been in the publishing industry since 1996 when we
first created and operated a tabloid street press. The books were a
natural progression and made possible by the event of the internet.
It has taken 4 years to develop this concept.

What makes your business unique?
A.
Uniqueness comes from creating our own product and branding
it with a catchy name and generic cover. There is no other
publisher to our knowledge that operates in the same
way.

What is the most important Marketing/Networking tool/strategy
your business has had success with?
A.
Our most important Marketing tool is the internet. We are
able to reach a world side audience both in attracting writers and
selling product. Our most successful strategy was to find a very
large market and create a product specifically for that
market.

A.
Pocket Book Publishing has been awarded the 2008 HBB
Award for the merchandising category.
ADVICE
Q. What
is the most helpful piece of advice you could give to other
businesses?
A.
Share your knowledge, support each other and don’t give
up when the going gets tough. When you are a successful business
person don’t forget to thank those that helped you.
The best
advice I can give: Humility earns
you lifelong friends.

is it you are looking for as a member of MCEI?
A. As
a member of MCEI I am looking for personal friendships,
business support, and social activities with like minded
people.

What is it you can offer to MCEI members?
A. I bring with me a lifetime of experience and knowledge
in many different industries. I believe in sharing that knowledge
and supporting others, be it in business or personal difficulty. I
am always willing to mentor the young and assist with
causes.

How do you envisage demonstrating your support and
loyalty to the association of MCEI?
A. Demonstrating support and loyalty to the
association to me would be to seek out and use other member’s
businesses before employing outside the association. Also by
supporting and attending functions and lending assistance when
things need doing. Utilising the Association’s offers and events,
to the benefit of both. |
