Tell us something about you – your philosophy, your
lifestyle, your ethics, your hobbies etc.
A.
Creativity has been in my mind and heart as far back as I
can remember, I have forever been drawn to the visual arts and I’ve
always seen myself as a creative person. It was a natural
progression for me to turn my passion into a career where I can
assist others to present themselves visually through their brand. I
also enjoy other creative pastimes such as dancing, photography and
cooking, which all inspire me in one-way or another when I create
my designs.

What is it that your business does?
A.
I specialise in creating brands for micro, home based and
small businesses. Once they have established their ‘brand basics;’
such as a logo and web site, I continue to help them to develop
their brand over time through various avenues and assist them to
attract new customers, retain the existing ones, and grow their
business.

Do you work from home? How
many do you employ?
A.
Up until March 2008, I ran AJD Design as a home based
business, now I have a studio based in Preston, Victoria. I work
full time in the business, and from time to time I engage the help
of sub-contractors such as programmers, or illustrators.

long have you been in business?
A.
Just over 3 years.
Q.
What makes your business unique?
A.
Perhaps the most unique aspect of AJD Design are the
‘branding basics’ packages. Over time and through experience, a
need in the market revealed itself to me - to develop and offer a
simplified, packaged approach to developing a brand. This type of
packaged offer makes the branding process simple and easy to
understand, and also gives my clients the freedom to pick and
choose the elements they require, keeping them in control of their
budget and costs.

What is the most important Marketing/Networking
tool/strategy your business has had success with?
A.
Word of mouth and referrals have by far been the
most effective marketing strategies for me so far, I find that good
customer service and timeliness leave a good impression on clients,
and they are more than happy to refer me to their associates,
friends and families. I measure it’s effectiveness by the fact that
it costs nothing to do, and requires no more effort than I already
put in!

Has your business been nominated for, was a finalist in, or
won any awards or other commendations?
A.
I am lucky enough to be nominated as a Leader Business
Awards Finalist for 2008 (winner yet to be announced), in the area
of professional services.

A.
